We would again like to take this chance to express our sincere thanks for your interest and business all year! We look forward to seeing you again in 2015, and hope the new year brings you peace, hope and strength.
We are excited to say we have posted a few videos of our cattle for you on the “photos” page of our website. They are short and simple, but they will let you see the animals enjoying their November day! Please click here (and click on the red triangles to play): http://www.janzenfamilyfarms.com/photos.html. Special thanks to Steve K, who took the videos for us!
As for news, our farm manager Norm says, “Our JFF herd is lookin’ good!” Since we have received questions in the past from customers concerning the winter diet of our cattle, he adds, “Just before Thanksgiving, on a sunny day, the cows were belly deep in milo stalks and just about as picture perfect as I can get them. The yearlings are also quite picturesque. Our grass-fed herd are ‘year round grazers,’ as they graze all year. Sometimes they do need hay as well (hay is dried grass). But this may be the first year that we are able to feed no hay as the cows have adequate forage to carry them thru spring. With the exception of possible deep snow / other winter weather concern, that is.”
If you’re looking for more gift ideas—besides 100% grass-fed beef and certified organic wheat—we’d like to point you to Michelle at Goats Rock Ranch (www.goatsrockranch.com), who has been using our JFF beef fat to make soap for the past year. She tells us, “It makes the best soap!" She puts a small tag on each soap item, stating the source (JFF) of her main ingredient. She produces a really nice looking product package! Thanks, Michelle!
Best wishes to you from all of us at Janzen Family Farms!
